Resources for Caregivers of Children with Developmental Disabilities

These resources may be especially useful to first time caregivers of young children who have substantial orthopedic and/or medical disabilities.

Family Support Network of Central Carolina is for families of children with special needs. It offers information, services, and support, together with links to a number of relevant and helpful websites and programs. It also has information regarding siblings of special needs children.

TelAbility, a UNC Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program, uses telecommunications to improve the lives of children with disabilities. Using real time video-conferencing and internet technologies, TelAbility provides comprehensive, coordinated, and family-centered care to children with disabilities across the state.  TelAbility also offers education, training, and peer support.
